Trials of the Abyss[edit]

Deep beneath the ocean's surface lie the Trials of the Abyss: mysterious dungeons hidden from the world above. While expanding the city of Fjolgard, builders have unearthed an ancient portal on the eastern coast. Within moments of its discovery, adventurers throughout the land started started finding strange lodestones: fragments of unknown composition and origin that seem to be drawn not to metal, but something else entirely.

Entering The Trials[edit]

To enter the trials a lodestone is needed. Lodestones drop from level 16+ monsters, with a 5% chance to be obtained from level 20 monsters. Lodestones cannot be dropped by summoned mobs. You may not enter the trials with multiple players.

Inside The Trials[edit]

The Trials of the Abyss (commonly referred to as TotA) can only be entered by level 20 players. Each time a player enters the trials a randomized instanced dungeon is spawned. There are between 25-45 mobs in a trial (speculated) and a boss at the end. All monsters in the trials are aggressive. When killed, monsters in the trials can drop Trial Rewards, which can be obtained at the end of the trials by killing the boss and standing on the chest. To exit the trials a player must enter a portal at the northeast side of the boss room after all monsters and the boss are defeated.

Tiers[edit]

When entering the trials players can choose which tier of the trial to enter. Players can enter a tier 4 tiers above the last tier they have completed. As tiers increase the health and damage of monsters in the trials increase. Higher tiers also result in higher quality items. The equation for the damage multiplier is 1+(tier-1)*0.07, and the bosses have a 2.5 damage multiplier.

Leaderboard[edit]

When a player completes a trial their time of completion is recorded put on a leaderboard near the trials entrance portal which is sorted by tier.
