Sjofni's Embrace is the Valentine's Day seasonal event that takes place around February 14 on the island of Fjolarok.

Milkwort is the event currency of Sjofni's Embrace.
Milkwort can be obtained from completing quests.
These are used to buy things like toys, pets and pet skins.
To receive Milkwort, the quest must be handed in while being in Fjolarok.
As an event currency, they cannot be dropped or traded. However, they can be stashed.
Mardriona is an acolyte of Sjofni and is fond of animals.
You can find her among the animals on the left side of Fjolarok, right above the pond.
During the event, she offers these trades:
Runes
Runes are a type of item that grants abilities usable by players and some monsters.

Runes can be "learned" by right clicking and pressing
learn
in the inventory, or by pressing
J
and equipping the runes on the rune slots at the bottom. When runes are learned they appear in the top right corner of the game, and hovering over them shows the effects they will give when used. Up to four runes can be learned at any given time.

Runes use mana points when cast by players, and some runes also require a target to cast. Runes also have different qualities and level requirements.

Unlike other items, runes cannot be augmented, although they can still be salvaged for essences.

Obtaining Runes
* Players start with a few runes learned depending on their chosen spirits.
* Runes may also be dropped by monsters when killed.
* You can trade a set of Runecrafter's Toil with Vikar for a random level 10, 15, or 20 rune.
* Asvald also sells some level 1 runes for 30 gold.
* Some runes can be crafted with the Etching Station
Stats
Stats determine a character's attributes, such as damage, health, and mana. You can view your stats in the character sheet by pressing the
J
key. Your character's stats can be improved by wearing better equipment. Stats may also be temporarily affected by aura runes. Stats are also greatly affected by your spirits and the amount of int,str or dex that you have depending on that.

You can find in-depth info here(v0.3.3)

Basic
; Level
: Main Article: Character Level
: The level of your character determines the maximum health and equipments you can use. The maximum level is capped at 20. You can only use equipment with a level requirement equal to or lower than your character's level (except when the item has level reduction). You can level up by gaining experience which you get when killing mobs. Note that you gain the most xp from killing mobs your own level.

; Experience Points (XP)
: Main Article: Experience Point
: Experience points are used to level up your character. You will gain experience by killing monsters, completing quests and by gathering. The experience required to level up is:
XL * 5 + XL * 10 * (XL^2.2)
where
XL
is your current level. You also receive reduced experience if the monster killed is not the same level as you. The multiplier is:
(1-D/10)^2
where
D
is the difference of levels, and you gain no experience if the difference is 10 or higher.

; Strength
: Strength is the primary stat of the Bear Spirit. It improves the damage of Axes and Swords. Every strength point increases your armor by 1.

; Intellect
: Intellect is the primary stat of the Owl Spirit. It improves the damage of Staffs and Wands. Every 6 intellect points increases your maximum mana by 1.

; Dexterity
: Dexterity is the primary stat of the Lynx Spirit. It improves the damage of Daggers and Spears. Every 12 dexterity points increases your dodge chance by 1%.

; "to all attributes"
: +
X
to all attributes mean that increases Strength, Intellect, Dexterity by
X

* Only on Finger and Neck slot

; Vitality
: Vitality increases your max health by 10 health per point.

; Max Mana
: Increase your character's maximum mana by 1 mana per point.

; HP Regeneration
: The rate of health restored per tick during combat. Outside combat, HP regenerates at the rate of
max(MaxHP / 112, HPRegen * 0.2)
per tick, while it only regenerates by
HPRegen * 0.2
per tick during combat.

; MP Regeneration
: The rate of mana restored per tick. The amount of MP regenerated per tick is
MPRegen / 50
. Mana regenerates the same in combat as out of combat.

: The base chance is 150% (Because of the base 150% of Global critical hit multiplier).
* Only on level 12+ equipment

; Spell critical multiplier
: The multiplied damage when performing a critical hit with a spell attack.
: The base chance is 150% (Because of the base 150% of Global critical hit multiplier).
* Only on level 12+ equipment

; Arcane increase / Fire increase / Frost increase / Holy increase / Poison increase / Physical increase / Spell Increase
: Increase the elemental/type of damage by 1% per point.
* Only on Finger and Neck slot
* Only on level 10+ equipment

; Attack Speed / Cast Speed
: The chance of attacking or casting spells without cooling down in succession. In-game, the value is displayed as
100% + chance
, so 110% implies that there is a 10% chance of performing the attack without cooling down whereas cast speed allows you to cast abilities faster.
* Only on Finger, Neck and Trinket slot

Defense
; Armor
: Armor reduces the damage taken. The percentage of damage mitigated is
Armor / (100 * XL)
where
XL
is the level of the damage source and the reduction is capped 50%. Therefore, against a level 10 monster you need 500 armor (
500 / (100 * 10) = 50%
) to achieve the maximum damage reduction.

; Chance to block Attacks / Spells
: The chance to negate an attack or spell completely.
* Only on Shield slot

; Chance to dodge Attacks / Spells
: The chance to negate an attack or spell completely.
* Only on Feet slot

; Arcane Resistance / Fire Resistance / Frost Resistance / Holy Resistance / Physical Resistance / Poison Resistance / All Resistance
: Resistance reduces the damage taken from a particular types of element (and All Resistance applies to all types of elements). Each point of resistance reduces the damage taken by
0.5%
and is capped at 50%. Therefore, you need 100 points of resistance to achieve the maximum possible damage mitigation.
* Only on level 15+ equipment

The damage reduction offered by armor and resistances stack with each other. If both mitigation sources are capped at 50%, you will only receive 25% of the full damage.

Equipment
Equipment is a type of item that affects a character's stats when equipped. There are many different types of equipment, including head, neck, chest, hand, finger, waist, legs, feet, trinket, weapon, tools, and runes. Like other types of items, equipment can have different qualities.
Head, Neck, Chest, Hands, Finger, Waist, Legs, Feet, Trinket, Weapon all only change the stats of your character, while Tools, and Runes give you abilities.
Weapons allow you to attack, Tools currently only allow you to fish, and Runes give you abilities that require Mana to use in combat.

Except for runes and finger items, players may only equip one of each type of equipment at any given time, and a two-handed weapon occupies both the weapon and off-hand slot. Up to 4 runes, and two finger items can be equipped at a time.

Certain pieces of Equipment have special stats which can not be changed through the use of Unstable Idols, such as those obtained from the Shady Dealer, during Events or from certain Factions

Equipment might be dropped by monsters after killing them.
To increase the likelihood of a monster to drop items, raise your Quantity stat,to increase the likelihood of a monster dropping items of a higher rarity, raise your Quality stat.
Different slots drop with different rates, as shown below. (Runes have separate drop rates, but most can still be acquired by killing monsters).

A list of item slots (category) and their drop rates is here.
Fishing Rods Stats
Remember that 2 stats can stack themselves if they are the same.
*Example : If a rod generate 25 extra catch chance and 49 extra catch chance, it will result to 74 extra catch chance.

;Extra catch chance [0 - 60]
:Increase the chance to get something when fishing (Cap 60)
:* Real catch chance calculation (%) : 40 +
Extra catch chance

;Faster catch speed [0 - 150]
:Decrease the time to get something when fishing (Cap 150)

;Higher fish rarity [0 - 100]
:Increase the chance to get a better quality fish (Cap 102)

;Increased fish weight [0 - 75]
:Increase the weight of the fish you get. (No Cap)
:Will not give better quality (Only weight will increase).

;Extra chance to hook items [0 - 50]
:Increase the chance to get special item you can fish. (Cap 499)
:*Cerulean Pearl
:** Real drop rate calculation (%) : 0.2 +
Extra chance to hook items
* 0.2

;Builds
:To compare fishing rods to catch extra items, one can use this formula: large values give better rods.
:(1 +
Extra chance to hook items
) * (40 +
Extra catch chance
) / (200 -
Faster catch speed
)
Fishing Competition
The fishing competition is an event that occurs on Fjolarok every day at 7:00 and 19:00 UTC (server time).
When Angler Nayla appears next to path north-east of the Hermit's Shack (pick right before the bridge), players can participate in the fishing competition by catching Ancient Sun Carp at locations where players normally catch Sun Carp.
* You need to use the Competition Rod during the event to catch Ancient Sun Carp.
* Ask Angler Nayla to get your Competition Rod for free.
The competition gives players 10 minutes to prepare, and then 10 minutes to fish.

The players who participate earns Angler's Marks, the player who caught and gave Angler Nayla the heaviest Ancient Sun Carp earns the most Angler's Marks, which can be exchanged for better fishing rods and Cerulean Pearls, which are used to augment fishing rods.
Monsters
Monsters can be found wandering around islands, as well as in dungeons. Players fight and kill monsters for items, experience, and to finish quests. Monsters may drop equipments, cards, idols and quest items when killed. Some monsters may auto-attack players if they get too close, and return to their natural habitat when they stray too far.

* Health, Mana, Damage, and Armor of a monster are RANDOMLY generated (The health column is an
"average"
)

Rare Monsters
Rare monsters occasionally spawn (4% chance) in the place of regular monsters, and have 1.5 times as much health and deal 1.5 times as much damage. Rare monsters always drop magic items or better, and can use one or skills normally used by players. As a result, some rare monsters of the same type are easier to defeat than others, as the Circle of Healing skill confers nearly no utility for the monster, whereas the Magic Missile skill can significantly increase the difficulty. It is recommended to fight rare monsters in groups, as all participating players will receive loot, and it is easier to deal with the monster's skills. Monsters in dungeons can spawn as rare monsters, but do not change their name and are not listed below.

Gathering is an activity that players obtain various resources found on the islands. To start gathering, the player must stand on the tile and press the
G
or
U
key. An action bar will appear and the player must wait until the gathering is finished before moving on. Successfully gathering an item also grants a small amount of experience.

Usage
In Isleward, gathering is used for:

* Harvesting herbs for Alchemy.
* Fishing for Cooking (a fishing rod must also be equipped).
Shared Stash
The Shared Stash is a box where players can store items inside. There are currently two stashs in Hermit's shack and Vikar's house in Fjolgard.

To store items, you need to stand next to a shared stash, right-click on an item in the inventory (
I
) and press
stash
. To access the stash, press
U
to open the stash UI while standing next to it. To move items from the stash to inventory, right click on an item and press
withdraw
in the stash UI.

Shared stash has a maximum limit of 50 items stored.

Items in the two stashes are linked and shared by all characters in the same account, so you can use it to transfer items to other characters.

History
* Prior to v0.3.0, you could store unlimited number of items in the stash.

The Passive Skill Tree adds various stats to your character as you level up. You can access the skill tree by pressing
p
.

Each spirit starts at 0 point at a different node in the tree, and you gain 1 point upon level up which can be used to expand to one of the connected node. It is recommended to expand your skills within the spirit colors, because of the synergy with your spirit.

* Passive trees also greatly influence and shape your play style.
* Each node or block has it's own stat that you can obtain by clicking on it. (you will have multiple options.)
* You have a limited amount of nodes you can choose (20 in total) and by level 20 you will be able to select the last 2 nodes.
* Depending on how you set your passive tree you could do various things for example: selecting str over vit as a bear would allow you to deal more damage but at the cost of health.
* There is no specific "best" final tree. Many players have varying play styles.
* If you want to get an idea on what your skill tree should look like, visit the Advanced Guide.
